Why Colleges Revoke Offers of Admissions.... Data came from the fall 2009 admission cycle in which, 22 percent of colleges reported that they had revoked an admission offer, compared to 21 percent in 2008. The average number of offers that were revoked was 23, compared to 10 in 2008.”

Thinking about Early Action or Early Decision?
Early Action (EA) and Early Decision (ED) are programs where colleges will let you submit your college applications early (usually in November), and get an admissions decision early (usually by January). Be sure you know the difference between the two: With Early Decision, students apply to their first-choice school early and make a promise to attend if accepted. You can only apply ED to one college. You can still apply to other schools, but they all have to be Regular Decision applications. If you apply ED to a college AND you get in, you have to go. You will also have to withdraw all other applications to all other schools. Like Early Decision, Early Action has earlier deadlines than regular decision programs. Also like ED, with EA you will get an admission decision much earlier than if you apply Regular Decision. You can apply to as many schools EA as you want. If you get accepted into a school EA, you don’t have to attend that particular school. You also don’t have to withdraw all other college applications. |
